Project Overview
A sweeping urban renewal project designed to centralize commerce in Iringa. The Modern Market is a multi-story complex capable of housing 3,000 vendors, featuring cold storage, heavy loading bays, and modern waste management systems.
KAICON was responsible for the structural steel framework, the reinforced concrete foundation, and the surrounding auxiliary access roads.
The Challenge
The project site was located in the densely populated urban core of Iringa, with difficult terrain (sloped grading) making heavy machinery operation and material delivery highly restrictive.
KAICON's Solution & Impact
We executed a top-down construction methodology for earth retention, alongside a just-in-time (JIT) delivery system for steel and concrete to bypass the lack of on-site storage. The market is now a central economic hub for the region.
